KARACHI: In a surprise move 56 employees, including directors, assistant directors, managers, deputy managers, drivers and peons of the National Insurance Corporation Ltd (NICL), were illegally removed from their posts and at the same time preparations are afoot for new appointments on these vacated posts.
Transparency International Pakistan in a letter to the Supreme Court of Pakistan has sought its intervention in the affair, saying that these 56 high and low grade employees were appointed according to the legal way, but after removal the same people were demanded Rs2 to 3 lakh for their fresh appointment on the those seats.
Transparency has also written letters in this regard to chairmen of PAC, NAB and Commerce Ministry, saying that it was a big corruption and demanded to provide justice to the aggrieved otherwise it would be forced to move the court. Federal Commerce Secretary Munir Qureshi and NICL former chairman refused to comment on the issue.
