Insurance made mandatory for driving licence, Traffic police authorities has announced that third-party insurance of all vehicles and their drivers will be compulsory so that owner and drivers of vehicles can get insurance benefit in case of any accident.It has been observed in the metropolis that in case of even minor accident, drivers usually start fighting leaving their vehicles in middle of the road. This unnecessary road blockage creates troubles for other vehicles and commuters. These trouble makers who are causing traffic jams on roads and creating problems to other people will be punished as per the traffic law, said DIG Traffic Karachi, Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh.Amir said an official letter will be written to Karachi Licence Department, DIG Aftab Pathan in this regard, requesting him to ensure that all drivers have proper third party insurance cover before they are issued driving licences in the metropolis. He said in developed countries, no one can drive a vehicle without having licences along with the third party insurance including damage and injury cover. He regretted in our country drivers do not even bother to get a proper driving licence. He warned the drivers to have their insurance policies and follow the law if they want to drive vehicles in the city. He said the developed countries have made advanced mechanisms for better system of traffic but unfortunately we are not in condition to welcome the good decisions are taken by his department for betterment of the system
