The first tailor-made insurance schemes for small farmers were launched on Tuesday by the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF).
The PPAF has launched the first indexed and hybrid weather micro-insurance products to facilitate and compensate small farmers mainly in the rain-fed (barani areas) of Pakistan. The insurance products would be monitored by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
Speaking at the ceremony, SECP’s insurance commissioner M.A. Arif said that micro-insurance should be promoted so that ordinary citizens benefited from it.
